Because it was free to play (and I assume the rerelease will be too) they should focus on selling cosmetic items and things like this, deviate completely from the pay to win model. Masangsoft is the new developer that has rights to the game but development has been slow and no news have been shared only that it's delayed (at least they are working on it).įor this re-release to work, they have to mold the game to modern standards otherwise it will fail again. The business model of the game was already pay to win, but after that update it made it worse, this kind of model would not hold today and it was the main downfall of the game in my perspective. This update was a mistake or was poorly maintained and over time the player base declined until it shut down. (Including me :D)īasically they released an update called Surge in an effort to redesign the game. This being said almost a year ago, causes a lot of people to lose hope on the re-release of their beloved game. In a forum post they stated that that they were sorry but had to delay the game to 2021. The last thing we have heard from them was on the 9th of December 2020. However they are doing a poor job on the communication about the progress of the re-release of Microvolts. Shortly after the release of Toy heroes, the official rights of the game were sold to a company named Masangsoft. Ever since then it's pretty much been the most played MicroVolts knockoff. A group of people copied the game's code and made it into their own game. Some fans missed the game so much that Toy heroes online was released. Because of this, Rock Hippo decided to officially shutdown the servers in September of 2017. This caused a steadily declining player base, which was the reason the game didn’t generate enough revenue. The game had its charms but had a lot of bugs and issues reported by the community which the developers never really cared or talked about. Also, a boss battle mode and the new character Kai were added. This new version of the game introduced square mode, increased weapon level cap and a extremely buggy party system. The game went through a couple of updates until eventually, in September 2013, Microvolts Surge was released. The official release date of the game was on June 9th 2011. This game was first developed by ski media and it was later on published in Europe and North America by Rock Hippo Productions under the name MicroVolts. An online toy shooting game was released in Asia.
